Stellantis Pro One, the new strategic initiative of Stellantis bringing six brands under one roof in the commercial vehicle segment, revealed 12 new models equipped with 2nd generation zero-emission and advanced connectivity features, commencing the "Van Offensive" of the Stellantis Commercial Vehicle Business Unit.
Gathering Citroën, FIAT, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, and Vauxhall under one roof, the Stellantis Pro One made its first major announcement, revealing 12 new vans in the compact, medium and large van segment, representing the future ambitions of Stellantis further to improve the electric van segment leader in Europe, as well introduce new energy vehicle vans being the pioneer in Level 2 (L2) automated technologies.
Human-Machine Interface and 2nd Generation Zero-Emission
Luca Marengo, VP Head of Product at Stellantis Pro One, introduced the new models under three segments. All new models include three technologies to meet the customer-centralised 360-degree approach:
- Human-machine interface
- Driver assistance
- Second generation zero emission
2024 compact van segment
- Citroën Berlingo, including ‘Advanced comfort seats’
- Fiat Doblo, including ‘Magic cargo space’
- Opel/Vauxhall Combo, including ‘Matrix headlamps with wide night vision’
- Peugeot Partner, including ‘I-cockpit’
The compact segment has a ‘Smartphone Station’ through the human-machine interface, allowing smartphones to connect with the dedicated app to turn them into the control panel of the vans' 10-inch dashboards with Android Auto. Over-the-Air (OTA) technology and embedded navigation are also included in new compact vans.
Other prominent technologies include the ‘Dynamic Surround Vision’, offering rear and side views of the vehicles from different cameras. The other is the ‘heat pump’, which maximises energy in winter conditions and provides up to 320 km range, 50 km more than current models.
The compact vans have a payload of up to 1 tonne. Models are 2nd generation BEVs with 330 km range and internal combustion engine (ICE) versions.
Mid-sized vans
- Citroën Jumpy
- Fiat Scudo
- Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro
- Peugeot Expert
The human-machine interface in the mid-size vans offers an all-new instrumental panel 10-inch digital cluster. Other features include a new infotainment line-up featuring a full connectivity digital experience.
The mid-size vans come with BEV, ICE and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) options, which will be introduced in mid-2024. The FCEV model will offer a 400 km range and refuelling in less than 5 minutes. Two BEV models will come with 50 and 75kW battery packs, offering a 350 km range. The mid-size models have a payload of up to 1.4 tonnes.
Large vans
- Citroën Jumper
- Fiat Ducato
- Opel/Vauxhall Movano
- Peugeot Boxer
The large vans have a new, fully configurable digital cluster and eat & work seat bench. The Stellantis large vans are the first to reach L2 assisted driving level, including adaptive cruise control, lane centring and traffic jam assist.
The BEV models include a 110kW battery pack with a 420 km range, 140 km more than the current models. 150kW fast charging means charging from 0% to 80% in less than an hour.
The first FCEV large van will be launched in 2024 with a range of up to 500 km and only 5 minutes of refuelling time. The ICE models are renewed and offer 9% less fuel consumption. The large vans have a payload of up to 2 tonnes.
All van models have 18 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Marengo said that the 6-metre large vans have the same payload capacity as competitor 6,5-metre models.
Five main pillars
In terms of global van commercial vehicle sales, Stellantis is number one in Europe. In South America, number two in the Middle East and Africa, and number three in the US, reaching 1.6 million unit sales in vans and pick-ups, said Xavier Peugeot, Senior Vice President of Commercial Vehicle Business Unit.
Now, Stellantis is ready for ‘Van Offensive 2024.’ The strategy of Stellantis Pro One is reinforced by five main pillars, each representing its characteristics in the new van models, explained by Peugeot:
- Strong products: For the first time, an OEM offered new models and an entire van line-up, representing compact, medium and large vans.
- Zero-emission: Stellantis is the first OEM offering a fully electrified van line-up since 2021, holding a 43% share in the all-electric van segment in Europe and surpassing 50% in the compact and medium BEV van segments. Four electrified models of RAM will represent the RAM offensive, to be unveiled over the following years, aiming to boost electrification in the US market. Stellantis wants to go beyond BEV and offer hydrogen-powered vans. The hydrogen roadmap has launched an FCEV medium van and will continue with a large one in 2024. RAM will also launch fuel-cell technology in less than three years.
- Customer experience: Stellantis will continue to provide tailor-made solutions for customers’ professional needs, including charging solutions, Wallbox offers, Free2Move charges and financial offers, supported by 20,000 touchpoints worldwide.
- Complete digital conversion ecosystem: Conversion and personalisation represent up to 50% of Stellantis commercial vehicle sales, said Peugeot, and the brand has three main steps in the roadmap: Over 400 partnerships with a wide range of offers, seamless 100% digital ecosystem and tailor-made conversions, and product innovation. The last step includes ePTO (e-Power Take Off), utilising the installed battery of the vehicle instead of a new one.
- Larger offer of connected services: By the end of 2023, all commercial vehicle line-up of Stellantis will be 100% connected. For the US, 100% activation will happen at the beginning of 2024. Stellantis will deploy service packages for business continuity and efficiency, including digital maintenance monitoring and geofencing. Also, OTA technology will improve the availability of services.
Road to 2030
Stellantis has sold 10 million commercial vehicles worldwide, said Marengo. Stellantis Pro One will effectively serve the brand's 2030 goals, reaching 100% passenger car BEV sales mix in Europe and 50% passenger car and light-duty truck BEV sales in the US. Stellantis Pro One will also support Stellantis’s goal to become 100% emission-free by 2038.
